Chix was featured in this year's Cheap Eats edition of The Washingtonian!

The Washington Blade refers to Chix as a "new breed" in the restaurant industry, and the March/April issue of the Washington Flyer discusses us in an article titled "Raising the Bar."

The February edition of The Washingtonian includes a very kind review of yours truly! (Although we still haven't decided to open late night.)

Chix in the U Street Corridor
Wednesday, January 9, 2008; F03

"The motto is "eat responsibly," but there's nothing preachy about Chix, the new eco-friendly takeout in the U Street corridor. Yes, 50 percent of the ingredients are organic -- and more, when available. Yes, the walls are painted a bright spring green, and the plates and cutlery are made of biodegradable materials. But the good intentions aren't why people keep coming back. It's the food."

-- Jane Black

The washington post express and counterintelligenceblog.com wrote some nice words about us. (thank you!)

Going out Gurus  has something to say about Chix and being environmentally responsible - here's an excerpt:  "The three-week-old Chix is setting a new standard for environmental consciousness. Much of the restaurant is built with sustainable materials, including bamboo countertops and cork flooring. The cups and dressing containers look like plastic, but they are actually containers made from corn that compost in under two months. (Plastic cups, on the other hand, do not degrade in landfills.) Chix's plates and takeout boxes are made from a compostable and biodegradable sugar-cane fiber called bagasse, and the napkins, takeout bags, menus and even business cards are made from recycled paper."  - Erin Hartigan (Dec 2007)
